Dichio may see action on Saturday for Toronto FC

Toronto FC striker Danny Dichio could see action in Saturday's road game against the Colorado Rapids.

Dichio, 33, hasn't played for the Major League Soccer club since suffering a concussion in a 1-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps in a Canadian Champions League game on Canada Day, July 1.

The Englishman, who leads Toronto in scoring with five goals this season, participated in a full training session with his teammates Thursday and coach John Carver confirmed Dichio will travel with the team to Colorado and could be used as a substitute in Saturday's contest.

"Danny has trained the last couple of days and says he's fine, so he is going to travel with us," Carver is quoted on Toronto FC's official website.

"The unfortunate thing from our point of view is that the game is going to be played at altitude, and we're not sure how Danny's head will react, or how he will be on the plane journey.

"He's done some light heading, but he's not done any heavy work yet. We'll take him out there with us, and see how he is. The good thing is he is on the road to recovery."

Toronto could use Dichio back on the field, as the team is winless in its last six regular season contests — and its past 11 games overall — having last tasted victory on June 14

The veteran forward admitted it has been difficult to miss so many games.

"It's been frustrating, but it is just good to be back out there with the guys at the moment," Dichio said.

"There was no timeline on when I could come back to training or playing, so that was the most frustrating experience I have had in my career. It's not like an ankle or knee injury when you can put a time limit on it."
